Merry Christmas

Ken Pieper / 1 Comment

Each year we have the privilege of celebrating this very special time, I am more humbled by family, friends and the true reason to celebrate the birth of our Jesus. Dianne and I are so fortunate to have health, faith and family with us daily that we find so much to be grateful for.

There is fresh snow on the surrounding mountains, clear “blue bird” skies and a warm fireplace keeping the studio warm. I am working on my last Christmas commission this week and just hope I can finish on time. I had it scheduled for last week, but unfortunately one of our dearest friends succumbed to a very long and courageous battle with cancer and we were honored to help the spouse and family during this difficult time.

Friendship, a true friend in one’s life is a treasure. I don’t have many, but cherish each with admiration and respect. We talk often. There are many around each of us that could use just a simple call or a hand-written note letting them know that we care. The value of a close friend is so very important. Additionally, there are folks out there that could become a great friend, and indeed needs our comfort and interest. I plan on reaching out to the folks I know and trying to create a lasting friendship, to be there for them as my friends have been for me; more.

We enjoy our season with friends and family each year and look forward to a tradition that Dianne and I started about 17 years ago. We have now passed the “baton” to our daughter and family here in Evergreen. Each Christmas Eve we have a gathering of around 40-50 couples, their children of all ages, grandparents, friends and strangers that became friends, and have Santa Claus grace us with his presence. This is my very best Christmas gift each year as I gaze into a room full of eager children anticipating the arrival of the “big man.” Such a blessing being with so many happy little folks. Each child receives that special gift with amazement and happiness, questioning just how Santa Claus knew exactly the one gift they wanted, and he brought it.

In closing this year’s letter, Dianne and I want to wish you the very best Christmas season ever. Enjoy your family and friends greatly and find that special effort in nurturing the ones we care for.

Until next time, have fun and enjoy the journey-
May God Bless-
